This body of work explores the feelings of dysphoria, the otherworldliness it creates in us as transgender individuals. dysphoria also seeks to honor the sacredness of our unique position in society as transgender individuals.”

Chronic

Chronic takes you on a journey of chronic head pain. From overbearing pain, to different treatment options and medications, side effects, and pain relief the artists Journey is depicted in these images. Utilizing their iPhone, apps and self-portraiture they make the journey of chronic pain more understandable for those who have never dealt with it and those who do deal with it hopefully feel less alone.

NYX

When we spend time in the deepest recesses of our minds, the darkest corners, we realize they have a special beauty. They are not to be feared. These images explore those dark corners and the majesty and power they hold in our lives.

Losing You

A body of work spanning two national parks, Joshua Tree and Death Valley. A body of work spanning two lives of the artist, Female and Male. Hartford utilized landscapes in these otherworldly places to make sense of social issues and personal journeys through gender transformation.

A Quiet Mind

Working in the Namib desert was serene, yet the complicated forms made it daunting to make visually appealing. The artist took the opportunity to transform a complicated landscape into a calming body of work. It was a process that helped them understand to quiet their own mind and the clutter that exists within our own thoughts.

In Between

White Sands National Park, then a National Monument is soft and unending. When walking there over days it often seems you spend much more time navigating the troughs between the dunes than the tops of the dunes people are most familiar with. These images seek to remind us to be present with where we are. Be appreciative of what each moment gives us. Though our eyes may be on the crest of a beautiful dune, the place we are also hold significant beauty if only we take the time to appreciate it. This of course holds true in so many ways in our lives.
